Home Solution for Bed Wetting
Bed wetting is an embarrassing situation for any child. This prevents him from staying overnight at a friend’s place for the fear of bed wetting haunts him forever. Gradually their confidence level sinks and they come to a conclusion that every time they sleep they will result in a wet bed. With low confidence they become introvert and try to avoid school camps, or even a night stay at any place except home.
Most of the parents resort o the simple solution of waking up the child for a visit to the toilet for emptying the bladder once or twice in the night. Other remedies usually followed by parent are to restrict the intake of liquids in the evening time so that the body produced reduced amount of urine in the night. Both these remedies are usually aimed at preventing the bed wetting without weeding out the root cause of the bed wetting.
On the other hand most doctors prescribe enhanced consumption of fluids in the evening to train the bladder to hold more and gradually increase its size and the child’s control over his urinary function. Sometimes for temporary relief the doctors may prescribe some medicines but these have proved futile once the child is taken of the medications. A long term solution is to gradually strengthen the child’s control over his bladder.
However, parents must not punish or embarrass the child over bed wetting as this can lead to other psychological problems. Fear of punishment and anxiousness is also one of the reasons for bed wetting. However, time proves to be the healing touch and most children grow out of this habit. It is upon the parents to give proper guidance to the child when he starts bed wetting and take proper care of the problem before it goes out of hand.
